Introduction: The Skin Is a Living Canvas

Why Your Anatomy Determines Your Results

The Skin: Your Living Canvas

An artist paints on canvas. You paint on an organ that breathes, renews itself every 28 days, bleeds, heals, and reacts to whatever you put on it. If you don’t understand how the skin works, you’re just guessing with every procedure.

Most poor results in micropigmentation aren’t due to a lack of talent: they’re caused by working at the wrong depth, on a skin type that wasn’t properly assessed, or without understanding what will happen to that pigment over the next six weeks.

What You’ll Learn in This Module

  • The layers of the skin and exactly where the pigment should be placed
  • What happens when you work too shallowly or too deeply
  • Skin types (oily, dry, combination, mature) and the Fitzpatrick scale
  • How the skin heals and how the color changes during the healing process

A takeaway

> The pigment doesn’t stay where you put it—it stays where the skin decides to store it. Your job is to place it where the skin will store it properly.

Let’s start with anatomy.
